Alternative Spring Break 2008

Over the last two years, United Way has teamed with local communities across the Gulf Coast to mobilize the passion of young adults to help rebuild after the devastation of Hurricanes Ivan, Katrina and Rita. This year, we continue to build on the groundswell of commitment of Gen Y. United Way and young adults from across the country will converge on communities along the Gulf Coast and in Detroit as well. Volunteers will dedicate a week of their lives to helping rebuild communities.

Hello Alternative Spring Breakers!!

Hello all Alternative Spring Breakers!! My name is Heather Nicole Wigley and I am 19 years old and I currently attend the University of Michigan - Dearborn, although I'm thinking I might transfer to Western University next fall. I heard about ASB through an email that the University Volunteering Professor sent out. The second I read the email I went an applied. I'm so psyched, this is gonna be the best spring break ever!! ^_^ What I'm looking forward to the most is definetly going to be the overwhelming feeling of joy after all the work is completed. I've lived in the Detroit, MI area basically my entire life, and I've always heard and seen how bad it is down there. It's going to feel awesome to finally be able to do something about it. Can't wait to see you guys soon, and I know we're going to do an excellent job!! Love you guys. Peace.
