Hey.....

Greetings All:

I'm Katrina Palmer, senior from the University of Michigan -Dearborn and Detroit native and current resident. This is my first experience with ASB; I'm actually going to Lake Charles, LA next month, but I'm helping to plan ASB Detroit!!!

I'm really excited for ASB in general, but sometimes I still can't believe that ASB will be in my hometown. It's kinda weird to see the neighborhood I grew up in and had so much fun in as a child slowly deteriorate. There has never been an abandoned house on my block until this past year, and now there are 3. The hardest part is watching how the economic downturn is affecting the people...families that don't have a place to live in. A lot people seem like they don't even have hope that things will get better. That's why I'm glad ASB is going to be in Detroit. Hopefully, the new and positive energy that everyone will bring with them will inspire others to be creative and finds ways to make the communities of Detroit better overtime.

Anyway, I work in the Student Activities Office at UM-Dearborn where I help to coordinate Leadership Programs and I am also the President of my sorority...Alpha Kappa Alpha and a member of the Black Student Union.

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and having a good time!!!!
