I should and I must- by Gieric Laput

Team 3 at Lighthouse Path

While i had to say that our early morning van rides to Lighthouse Path almost always had us knowing what to expect- gallons of paint, walls, rollers, tough day ahead, today was different. We finally had the chance to spend time with the children in the shelter. We had been painting walls and banisters for the past four days, and the thought of finally meeting the the people whose lives we had touched gave us something to be very excited about.

Amal's photos below do a quite good job of exemplifying the deeper meaning of what we were doing; painting and doing the dirty work is one thing, seeing the impact it has on other's lives as well as ours is another. I realized painting walls can transcend into things far greater than just making a hallway brighter.

At the same time i was quite sure everyone did'nt look forward for this morning to come, as the end was imminent. This was also the last ASB day, and everyone seemed to feel bittersweet about Friday morning. I had a wonderful experience this whole week and i didn't want it to end. It's not the goodbyes that bother me. I am apprehensive more so on facing the challenge of continuing what I had started on ASB.

I should and I must.

It was a pleasure, everyone,
