Looking forward to meeting you this weekend!

Hello ASB'ers! My name is Ursula Adams and I work at United Way for Southeastern Michigan. I am on the ASB 2008 Detroit planning committee and I cannot even begin to describe how much anticipation there is here on the ground for ASB to begin!

The amount of work that goes into planning a service project like ASB is just amazing. For months now we've been scouting housing locations, planning menus, making travel arrangements, setting up media points, planning volunteer activities and working so hard to make sure that this is an incredibly memorable experience for all of us. It's been just a blur of non-stop activity...

But, all the extra work aside, I could not be more pleased to have been a part of the planning team here in Detroit.

I have to admit to not being very civic-minded when I was in college. If opportunities like ASB were available "back then," I sure didn't know about it. Spring Break, to me, was an opportunity to sit back and do absolutely nothing for a week. I am not a person that normally contemplates regrets, but I have to admit, if I could go back (just a few years, of course) to my late teens/early 20's... I'd be doing exactly what you are about to do here in Detroit.

I admire all of you for your commitment to making a difference in the world. I look forward to meeting you this weekend and I hope you come away from this experience as impacted as your planning team has been in creating it for you.

Ursula, it was great meeting you today. I am was glad that you got to witness one of the best meeting turnouts we have ever had. I hope you felt the excitement and anticipation floating about that room.

To anyone else who reads this comment, allow me to just inform you how excited me and the filming team are to be participating. Ursula is great and has some terrific stuff in store for you all, as do I and the rest of UM-Dearborn's Campus Video Network.
